The Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children & Young Adults (KANOON) in the direction of reviving the national and traditional programs has several plans which one of the most important one of them is the Storytelling Festival.

In more than 44 years that Kanoon has been established, storytelling has always been one of the programs practiced in all kanoon's centers all over the country. Considering storytelling's important role in transferring the national and traditional culture of the country to next generation, kanoon has become determined to revive this valuable and effective activity in the country. For this reason, it turned storytelling to a festival by a lot of different competitions.

This year's festival took place from 22 nd to 25 th of Azar 1388 (13 th to 16 th of December 2009), with 35 Iranian storytellers and 9 foreign storytellers from Guyana, Sweden, Ireland, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Tajikistan, Wales and Kyrgyzstan who came to Tehran for the festival.

During the Storytelling festival two workshops by storytellers from 8 countries Goanna and Tajikistan were also carried out for the Iranian instructors and storytellers.

A specialized conference and talk between Iranian and foreign storytellers was another program which was arranged in this festival.
